If you are like most women, you can think of a whole lot of other things to spend $100 on than a pair of brand name jeans. I get that. I am not here to sell you women's designer jeans, but rather to help you look your best in jeans.
However, looking your best in jeans may take spending a little more than you used to spending. Then again, it might not.
Believe it or not, there are occasions for buying premium denim jeans and occasions for buying cheap jeans. And, there's nothing wrong with both occasions. It's more about knowing the occasion and getting it right.
So, I've compiled a quick and easy list of when and why you should buy high-end women's designer jeans or $20 jeans at K-mart.
When to Buy Women's Designer Jeans
So, if you suffer from fit issues, such as saggy booty—the tendency for your jeans to get baggy in your butt area halfway through the day—then women's designer jeans is your answer.
However, the goal of high end jean makers isn't only a jean with every bell and whistle, but a good fit . . . after they have the fit right, then they add some jingles.
Meaning that care is taken to ensure that the pockets line up, that the stitching is correct, that everything is tidy and going to stay that way for a long time. So, look at the $$ as an investment.
Yes, I love designer denim. Do I love the price tag? No, but honestly, I hate spending an extra dollar on detergent, too. Who likes to spend more money when you know there is a cheaper option? But, sometimes, I spend more on my detergent if I know I'm getting more for my buck. The same rings true for name brand jeans.
As a final argument for women's designer jeans, I will tell you that once you slip in to a pair of premium denim jeans, you will have a hard time wearing cheap jeans again. However, with that said, I will admit that there are times to buy cheap jeans and save your pennies.
When to Buy Cheap Jeans
So, rule number one is: Buy cheap jeans when all you can afford is cheap jeans. You won't die from wearing Forever 21 jeans and you won't be doomed to looking terrible. You just have to be more creative with the rest of your outfit. . . and be confident in yourself.
Kind of like skinny jeans. Do you remember the first time you saw them? I'm sure you thought to yourself that they'd never last. Now they've become a wardrobe staple and having a pair of designer skinny jeans is perfectly reasonable.
An example of trendy jeans this season would be printed denim. A lot of celebrities are wearing it and while most designer brands offer the style, buying this trend in premium denim would just be a waste of money until they prove that they are staying around for a while. Otherwise, you will never be able to get away with wearing printed jeans once they are out of style.
Your best bet? Buy cheap printed jeans, have fun with the style and next year when the trend has faded, your only out $20 and you can retire your cheap jeans satisfied.
Just because a certain style of jean is hot right now doesn't mean it's for your body type. So, try out new styles without investing the bank, then if you decide the look is for you buy premium denim.
