Nobody likes to those carrot-shaped, tapered leg jeans that have pockets so high on the hips that women appear to have a flat butt that stretches downward for miles.
We call these "mom jeans" and we plan to put them to end forever. Let's start by looking at pocket placement and its role in giving even us moms a butt to be proud of.
The placement of the jean pocket is very important in giving you the best fitting jeans. A good rule is to keep the pocket fairly centered over the fullest part of your cheek for the most attractive bottom.
The wider your pockets are set apart, the wider your hips appear as well. Too far together and you've lost your curves altogether. Too far up and we begin to think mom jeans where the vast span of denim below the pocket makes your butt appear much flatter and bigger than it really is. Too low and the pocket begins to swallow up your leg, and you begin to look shorter with every inch that the pocket sinks.
However, there are exceptions to every rule. Do you have legs for miles? Then that low pocket can be fun, especially if you have a small bottom that can use a boost.
Have narrow hips? Try some wider set pockets to create the illusion of curves. Pockets that are set farther up (but not going into mom jean territory) also send the eyes up and can make your butt look perkier. Find what works for you to give you the best fitting jeans and stick with it!
